File history not backing up

I know it's a PITA but the last place to find out that recovery isn't working the way you expect it to is after you get a real failure and need to restore. My biggest concern is current projects and data that is currently on my PC (where I need constant backups and tracking of old revisions in case something gets corrupted or similar).įotisThe main thing is to actually test your program and strategy. Look for the file you need, then use the arrows to see all its versions. LNK in the same directory as your primary data file. If youre missing an important file or folder that youve backed up, heres how to get it back: In the search box on the taskbar, type restore files, and then select Restore your files with File History.

If you look in the folder where your saved file resides, you may see other files generated by GnuCash with the following extensions. When they're all done, instead I mirror them on two external USB hard disks (which is something I've done forever and it's never let me down). GnuCash creates several types of files to help ensure that your data is not lost. I honestly don't use cloud storage for backing up my projects particularly those which are now complete. Otherwise, given what 7wattsub mentioned, I think File History is also not a bad option (which is what I have setup already right now). I'm definitely interested in trying Macrium Reflect now as it does seem to be a very popular and trusted backup solution. Thank you all so much for your valuable feedback.
